ActA®

(Active Absorber)

Ventilation duct noise control

Presentation

ActA is an active silencer designed to reduce the low-frequency noise generated by airflow systems in buildings and by aspiration and/or ventilation systems in industry. The active device is based on TechnoFirst's patented EOLANE process.
The ActA active silencer is also equipped with traditional passive attenuation devices such as rock wool and an acoustic bulb so it can also deal with high and medium frequencies.
This combination of traditional passive techniques and active noise cancelling technology results in optimal noise abatement for all audible frequencies (20Hz-20kHz).

principle

ActA is a cylindrical or rectangular sound trap equipped with an acoustic bulb featuring a loudspeaker and two microphones connected to a dedicated electronic board. The upstream microphone picks up the sound and transmits it to the electronics unit, which analyses it and generates the anti-noise, which is then produced by the loudspeaker. The downstream microphone analyses the resulting noise and adjusts the processing algorithms in real time to guarantee maximum and continued effectiveness.

Application examples

Tertiary: Since 1996, hundreds of ActA products have been installed and operate on a daily basis in hotels, music halls and venues, cinemas, laboratories and clean rooms, cruise liners, recording studios and various office buildings.

Industrial: The installation of systems using TechnoFirst's EOLANE technology allows industrial sites to ensure their facilities comply with increasingly stringent European Standards and reduce the propagation of noise pollution in the vicinity of industrial sites (factory smokestacks, vacuum cleaners and/or fans).

performance

The chart opposite presents an attenuation curve measured on an ActA located at an exhaust outlet.

Main advantages:
  • Very good radiated noise attenuation in ducts (airflow noise and fan noise), essentially in low frequencies.
  • Very limited loss in pressure.
  • Highly compact system saving at least 30% space compared with traditional solutions.
  • Very easy to implement.
  • Adapted to new facilities as well as the upgrade of existing facilities to comply with acoustic standards.

Technical specifications

Cylindrical ActA products constitute a range of silencers capable of adapting to a broad variety of environments:
  • Inside duct diameter ranging from 250 to 630mm as standard
  • Air flow treatment up to 10,000m3/hour
  • Power supply: 230 V.
Standard ActA products are manufactured and installed by TechnoFirst-certified subcontractors, with the system electronics provided by TechnoFirst (please contact us). For all requests concerning non-standard products from the ActA range using the EOLANE process, TechnoFirst carries out adaptation Studies and Projects on request for products to be installed in its customers' systems.
